I recently licensed a pair of frequencies - 153.*** and 159.*** - for putting up a repeater; I'm looking for advice on where to locate a good antenna and what type to use. I'm thinking something such as: http://www.wiscointl.com/decibel/dipoles/db224.htm
I have not called about that one but something along that line (except it is uhf) runs pretty high on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Andrew%2fDecibel-DB420-B-Base-Station-Antenna-*NEW*_W0QQitemZ390010391289QQcmdZViewItem
I'd like to think I could find something like that used. Anyone have ideas for where to look for used antennas other than ebay? I have an antenna that may be the same as above except it only has two trombone elements. It is on a 30 foot tower; I believe it needs some minor repair. The tower went down once; I mended it back together and put it up in a hurry. Is it practical to think about building another pair of trombone elements and buying a longer length of aluminum tubing for a mast. Or is it possible to buy an element/coax kit and purchasing the mast locally. Freight on a long mast will be high since it cannot be shipped UPS. I'll be using either a Motorola MSR 2000 repeater (if I can get the crystals at a reasonable price) or a Motorola GR1225. TIA |
