Subject: RE: spike closing wheels in corn stalks

nc IA
I have two curvtines I'm trying this year on my 1750 for the first time (thanks Paul B). running one reg / one curve. Corn on corn, ground was V ripped (no disk blades ahead) in the fall and then tiled this spring (late) and then finished with a deere 724. Ground conditions are / were horrible due to the tiling that went on when the soil was saturated. everything worked up very cloddy and then dried out quick. My row cleaners were doing as much as they could without being ridge till machines alone, that being said, I went from dry to wet conditions and still never had any noticable trouble with the curvetines plugging up - saw more of that in the row cleaners. Still judging emergence, but at this point I'd say it's a wash - more affected by the tile lines / clods then anything.
