Subject: RE: spike closing wheels in corn stalks

Driftless SW Wisconsin

We are coming out with an easy on/off press plate option which will retrofit any Curvetine XR's sold. While the filled in slot of the XR helped in most cases there are still situations, especially this year in muddy bt stalks as Ed describes below, where a bit more press plate would be helpful as it was on the older Curvetine II.

However there are situations and conditions where you do NOT want a press plate....so this option will be "easy" on/off.

I would have to say that the Curvetine-planted corn stands I've seen emerging the past few days in W WI, even in this wet year and heavy clay of the area, appear to be outstanding. Not perfect, but very good.
