Completely agree... the brand loyalty created by battery platforms is huge. If I have a milwaukee fuel set, why would I buy a stihl electric chainsaw, trimmer, or other. The drill powered winch makes it compatible with all battery platforms... I don't even want to buy a flashlight unless my current roster of batteries can run it. Also reduces your initial cost by expanding on your battery platform.

I agree, when I purchased my Dewalt cordless grease gun I went with 18v . That is what all my other tools are. The 20 v was just coming out. Not sure if I should have made the switch then.
It's too bad someone can't come up with a multi purpose battery to fit any make any model. I understand why the manufacturers do what they do.
