One man show here so I buy all the parts, organize all the parts and nobody else messes with my system so this may not apply to your needs.

Several previous threads on organizing things. Pics from me and others as well as various ideas on organizing stuff.

I used to keep a clipboard and empty box. When items were taken off the shelf of my inventory I would write down and place the tag or part number on a piece of paper in the box.

End of year made for a nice way to know all the items used to prepare parts orders during sales or discounts.

Have since resorted to a dry erase whiteboard where I can write part numbers down as they are used to keep track of inventory.

Few years old pics of whiteboard scribbles.
