Subject: RE: Mixing Fertilizer And Seed Wheat Question

Central OK
We had a guy here plant wheat with the fertilizer spreader for a few years. They would mix the seed with the fertilizer and spread it on then run a harrow over it. Wheat is supposedly close to the same density of 46-0-0 that you can use that setting and get it close. Seemed to work alright depending on how quick it would get a rain after spreading.
If I'm understanding you right you want to mix it then run whole setup through the drill. Personally I wouldn't want the fertilizer in the drill being that it would be pretty hard on the metal. It would save a pass over the field though. If you don't care if the drill gets rusty it would be worth a try. Pretty sure you'll have to open the drill all the way up to get enough product through it to get the amount of seed and fertilizer you want. We used to run ours about half open to plant 100lbs of wheat alone.
