They competed with each other to push themselves into doing better than the other group on top of that.
One side of my family tree was extremely frugal, back when everyone was already frugal. The other side was a very large family that had to scratch and innovate through those years.
My uncle built a wood smoke doodle bug when gas was rationed. And on and on, lots of stories.
So, I can relate to Chris’ family history. Much the same here.
