I am not sure we have had 8" all season. The best rain we had was 1.2 in late August and it was too late to help the corn at all. I really don't get this outcome and I am not complaining but I am puzzled. I know if anyone responds to this part of the thread that it will all be credited to superior genetics and scientific advancements but I often wonder, if they (plant breeders) are really so in charge of how to make corn yield effectively with no water, why can't they unlock the code to make it perform better with much less fertilizer. Hell, I'd be pretty happy if they could get it to stand up all season every year.
