Chatham Ontario.
It works, believe me. I took out a worn feeder house chain and put in a new one. Didnt square off the new slats and went to the field for the first time and happened to start in a tough patch of weeds. Plugged feeder house bad enough with long tough weeds I thought it faster to drop the head. Drove to the shop and sharpened them up. Was able to get the rest through without loud "whumps" or plugging. Sharpening the chopper knives is another great idea, but you have to get it there first ;) .
I'm running an IH combine with their new feeder chain and slats. Those bars are hard. I tried sharpening the slats but it will take an awful lot of work and time. I've never been happy with the way it feeds green material, no matter how the front drum is set. Green straw starts moving up the floor and then loses grip after the front drum until a pile is formed and then the whole wad tries to get under the top shaft and you have a plug up. Its also hard to reverse out without two or maybe three tries.
Just my experience.
