The current line up of at least the higher horsepower workmasters are not LS tractors. They are the same as the former model, the T4. We had a T4.95 and it was great for brush hogging.
He said Workmaster, not Powerstar. He's either mistaken or it's not the same series as what you had. The Workmaster series has been expanding upward into the Powerstar hp range for a while now, starting with the Workmaster 75 which is a completely different animal from a T4.75 or Powerstar 75.
