grew it for seed several years ago.it is a cousin to cotton. we would cut it with a combine.with a row crop header. made 1500 to 2000 lbs of seed per acre. no real insect issues verticillium wilt was a big problem that as far as I know only affects cotton and okra huge problem for okra. one friend that grew it left at lunch field was great camw back about n hour later 80 acre field had lost ALL of its leaves. Planted like milo soil temp needs to be at least 60. used treflan as herbicide. if grown for food needs to be picked very often yo keep iy producing.
