southern MN | I have some old tile 15-18 inches deep in places.
We mostly hope to put tile more than 24 inches deep, and more than 30 inches is what we plan in ideal conditions.
I would not rip that deep if I was told the tile is kinda shallow. You create a big headache and work and expense when you rip them open. They need to be fixed or water oozes out, dirt sinks in to the openings.
