Ne Nebraska | Lots of cows are getting killed right now causing our currency problem to persist, plus the pack has figured out if we slaughter less now maybe they won’t get to killing too many lightweights. Gota get through a lot of cattle before prices will improve. Like burdick said, this springs calf crop isn’t shrinking yet, so still be plenty of cattle through summer 2022. Next springs calf crop should shrink with all the cows getting culled and killed now. That shortage won’t show up to the packer till fall 2022 or spring 2023. After that off to the races like in 2014! Supply and demand in cattle takes a long time to work through! One thing that might hurt us is a LOT of heifers got bred this spring. Never seen so many go through the barn and sent for a bangs tag. Maybe these culled cows will be replaced quicker, if anyone had grass to hold them. | |
