Beresford, SD | Small grain straw is $100/ton right now at local Auctions. After the drought of 2012, Canadian oat straw was bringing $150/ton at the Rock Valley hay auction.....and water would drip off the bales when unloading!!!!! I’m Prepared today! Never Again!!!!! Location makes a big difference on what hay is worth. If drought really gets bad, I wouldn’t count on byproducts to add for pro. Straw, alfalfa haylage, a tick of some form of energy will make a stock cow pretty smooth.
