VT | Paul, my point was the "going organic" wasn't about going organic. They had no money to buy *any* fertilizers, so rather than say "oh well, I guess we'll all just have lower yields for a while," the gov't tried to spin it as they were doing something intentional rather than reactive.
Most quick changes in ag don't work too well. Talk to all the guys who try no-till for a single year without changing any of their other practices, and then claim it doesn't work. All systems have learning curves. The Sri Lankan government wasn't even trying. | |
