I think what happened there has nothing to do with questions of "can organic feed the world?" A country suffering a cratering of their cirtical tourism industry due to Covid travel bans attempts to save dwindling foreign currency reserves by banning the purchase of imported fertilizer. Then they call it "organic" to cover for governmental malfeasance. There's an article in the Economist this week basically explaining it.
Not to mention that just *not* fertilizing is not exactly organic agriculture.
Still and all, it was an organic quick change. And didn’t work. If commercial fertilizer was too expensive, how were they supposed to source more expensive organic fertilizers?
The rules still apply.
Organic is for rich folk.
Good quality regular production is what feeds the world.
Not bashing on organic, I’m good and fine with people having choices.
As long as we continue to have those choices and options, from both sides......
