South Georgia | I am using GPS speed. The problem is, with me pulling a ripper through hard dirt, my wheel slip is highly variable. When I exit a patch of hard clay into lighter soil, the tractor instantly speeds up several tenths of a MPH. The planter variable rate drive is calculating the target drive RPM in real time, and the planter drive simply can not react fast enough. I suppose a bigger tractor with more ballast, or a rain would help, but neither of those are realistic options right now. I need a "smoother" ground speed source. I can't use tractor wheel speed b/c the slip will cause the planted population to be wrong. Deere des not give me the option to use the planter gauge wheel speed. It monitors the gauge wheel speed but does not allow it to be used as a speed source. | |
