I know that CIH, for their planters, they recommend that you use planter wheel speed. When you set up the display it will ask what priority you wish to use. The default is Planter/Tractor. It seems a bit counterintuitive but if the wheel is in good contact and not filling up with mud it will give you the most consistent and accurate speed. In your conditions YMMV.
