NW IA | In defense of doctors....
Before I changed my lifestyle almost three years ago my doctor said my weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, etc. were on the edge of trouble. But when that line was crossed I could start taking a statin, metformin, and whatever.
He said weight loss and exercise were options, but most folks just want a pill.
He said people don't want to suffer the hunger and privation of dieting and the pain of exercise.
That is where the docs go wrong. Many are still only offering the "starve and run your butt off" advice.
I got rid of the 2 meds I was on and manage the one I manufacture myself (insulin) by going down the John Burns YouTube rabbit hole.
Socrates said, "Let food be thy medicine". *I think he may have also said, "Let Butter Bob be thy doctor".*
The topic of health comes up frequently in my age group. When I describe the changes I've made and the results, most folks say it isn't worth it to give up the lifestyle and "foods" they enjoy. | |
