Ever been to the Rock Island Arsenal museum? Talk about a lot of military history (mostly arms based) packed into one spot. Also some big guns and vehicles and things to see out at the park on the island with their own explanations. 

As a kid into history growing up, I thought Gettysburg was worth it. Not so much museum but just seeing the places and and such
