Wi | +1 on Blynk and ESP8266. Makes life easy but run out of credits quickly on Blynk. Not too spendy though.
Can also use MIT App Inventor for some things if you like visual programming (yuck).
I haven't used a pi or arduino for anything useful though, other than PiHole. Most useful projects I resort to PLCs as most of these need a decent amount of uptime and reliability. Industrial components interface easy with PLCs and I don't have to print a housing or solder lol. There's some really cheap PLCs available these days as well. | |
