Chatham Ontario. | As mentioned above, you need every edge as sharp as possible. This applies to all combines every day. Dont forget about the feeder house chain slats also. I sharpen the top edge of my 550 every year. Take an angle grinder and flatten the top leaving as sharp of corner on the front edge as possible. Sharpen cross auger in the head as well. Good cylinder bars and cast-iron spokes really help. Driving very slow with a very slow reel speed to smooth out the crop mat is what your after.
