Central Iowa | Make sure you have good cylinder bars and the concave is level. Set everything by the owner's manual. Keep the cylinder speed up and the concave tight. That will pull the material through and not let it roll around. Like others have said, make sure your chopper knives are sharp. Also make sure the monitor above the straw walkers is working so that if they plug, you will know it. Have the cutter bar in good condition and get the reel set properly so the material feeds evenly. After a killing frost, you should be fine. These machines combined lots of beans back when weeds were not so easy to kill. | |
