Those appraisals are just a guess. When you harvest and watch your monitor do you notice how headlands ,ditch banks, bad spots etc. lower your average yield? Seems like it takes forever to raise the yield. So how do appraisals fairly average in those areas..you have to have a very even soils and equally drained field for them to be halfway close.
Started corn harvest yesterday afternoon. Yield monitor is like a Mexican jumping bean. No way appraisal would be anywhere close to what yield is this year. 250 bu plus yield swings in half mile rows. Corn is 25 -30 bu less than what thought it would be thus far. Pretty much saturated soil since July 1 is the culprit. Would be worse if field wasn't tiled |
