Hi Todd. If you make the balage at 50% water vs 10 % water (or less if it gets really super low humidity) in dry hay, your 1500# balage bale is only about 750 # of dry matter and 750 # of water weight. Your dry hay bale would be 150 # water weight and 1350 # of dry matter. It takes almost 2x the baleage bales to get same dry matter as dry hay.

Now feed value is a different story. Lots more goodies in ensiled feed and palatablility is better as well. They might eat more than they really need with baleage.

Are you getting some rain on your wheat? Hope so! We are supposed to get some showers tomorrow/Thursday.
