Alberta | Number one is temperament, after that, eye appeal, feet, legs, soundness. If I am buying sight unseen, video from side and back. Frame size depending on what kind of cows I will use him on. Got to have a but, nuts and guts. The bigger the better. I like to see WW and YW as well as group rankings. Group rankings mean more to me than breed rankings as groups should be coming out of the same environmental conditions. BW, but more so build if I am using on heifers. Age of Dam, a heavier weaning weight off a younger Dam shows me more potential for genetic. Unless I am feeding them out and getting premium for marbling, marbling ability isn't real high on my list. When it comes to bulls, I am pretty picky. One or two bulls that can service 30 to 50 cows can change the direction of a herd in pretty short frame of time. .1 lbs/ day extra gain on a hundred calves over 200 days X 5 years is 10000 lbs. Just my HO.
