Beresford, SD
Feed year around. Pasture is an oversized green dry lot. Spring calves get nice grass for about 50 days, but feed year around. Falls, dry lot then corn stalks. I can feed for 75% the cost of renting more grass (without the headaches) and 25% the cost of a land payment. I’d really like to buy a ranch somewhat close to home and double the cow numbers. That will be explored harder when my son is done with his schooling, he’s a sophomore in HS. For now I’m done adding numbers to the cow herd, didn’t calve any heifers this year and won’t breed any this spring.
