If you're considering epoxy look at RockSolid by Rustoleum. We used it in our garage over an older epoxy product. I simply lightly sanded the floor with sandpaper on a sanding stick or sanding block and then scrubbed the floor well with TSP and rinsed. RockSolid comes in a Metallic or the standard base colors with chips. I've used the standard Rustoleum and a product called UCoat it but the RockSolid seems more substantial and is adhering well. Application is a two person project because you mix two pouches and it really heats up and then there's limited time to mix and apply. We put a clear satin coat over it. If you're looking for something nice and classy, then go with a tile, but the epoxy is a lesser expensive DIY option.
