SW So Dakota | For most of my life we started calving in March, weaned and pushed those calves to weigh 800 by the first of January only to watch green five weights come within dollars per head of ours. I’m a slow learner but finally figured out you can’t beat the law of supply and demand. Might as well give em what they want. Our steers this year ran out on a quarter of cover crop and got fed a 40 mega cal diet. Greener than we’ve ever had them with not much expense in feed. I’d rather sell corn than give it away through cattle. | |
