Fontanelle, IA | what happens if you slow a 700 # critter down? If you slowed them down gradually/not abruptly so that their guts and rumen don't flip, then can you AVOID damage the carcass/marbling/grade?
Adding an extra 100 days at low gain, does it increase interest costs about $17/head on $1050 value animal? Is there a cost of gain target/figure that would be a no-brainer to super slow them up similar to "roughing" replacement heifers through the winter @ 1 - 1.5# /hd/day gain? run on cornstalks and give a few pounds of silage, some protein, all the tub-ground cedar trees and hedge trees they can eat with a splash of molasses for palatibility?
Other than super good fences? would it work? what would it do?
