Winkler, Manitoba Canada | Another option that would likely be cheaper than a VFD and a gear motor would be a recycling timer with a single phase gear motor. The timer simply sets time on and time off. For instance this year I had the meter on the dryer set at 6 seconds on and 6 off or 50% on, which in our dryer is about 500 bushels/hour. In the pic shown the timer is set at 4.5 seconds on and 6 seconds off, or about 43% on, which would be about 430 bushels/hour.
