I'd just let it go, I don't really see how anything good is going to come of talking to him about it. Just my opinion. Even if it doesn't make sense, it didn't cost you anything more than you were already giving away. It's not like it's YOUR landlord disking a crop you were counting on having. You're buddy ran the disk and he's the one paying the rent. None of your business.
