I will comment your father is young and I see lots of them retire from a non farm job and enjoy the final third of life doing what they enjoy. Farming and doing many of the projects around that they have not had time to do over they years. I am one one of them. Good Luck and Enjoy your time with Him.
I am with you there and wish it could happen now. I'm only 54 though. We've built up a pretty nice farm over the years but I think I'm worn out now. Would love to rent out the work and be able to focus on cleaning up the rough edges. The things I can't seem to get to anymore. I had a neighbor and friend retire at 55 years old. Things look bright for him. He came into this business a couple of bases ahead of me in the game though.
