 Southeast Colorado | Oats sure don't take long here............but I'm a LONG ways south of you. This year in the hot and dry we cut them with a draper head one day and baled them the next. Typically I use a crimping head and wait about 3 days. Use your pliers and squeeze a stem that you pull out of the bottom of your windrow. If there's sap in it you have to wait until it's dry. If no sap.............then bale whenever you want. I prefer to bale when we have humidity but no dew on the windrow. I change my opinion if rain or snow is on the way. This pretty much applies to every crop I bale. We mostly bale sorghum sudangrass. | |
