Subject: RE: Does drying corn increase yield

NCIA
I’m becoming a believer in the phantom loss. We usually take some out early and haul out, 21-24% harvest moisture. Always some of our best corn.
A couple of years ago I Calibrated monitor and took 80 of of a quarter, then went and did beans. When we came back the corn was 4-5pts drier. It was also running 10-15 bu less. I called weigh wagon to come recalibrate. Something happened..... I was within 1%, 250 bu environment. You may not get rich getting it off earlier with extra drying costs, but I believe your taking harvest risk off the table and at least paying the drying.
