Southeast Colorado | That's always been the problem with taking the annual forage insurance here which is paid out on a rainfall index system. Seems like they like to say you had a 2" rain when maybe you got a half inch at best. They use radar estimated amounts along with some gauges (of which there are none near me). I'd actually really like that program because it'd fit our cattle and haying enterprise great if based on rain at my house. I'd be happy to pay the pretty big premium if it truly related with what happens on the ground. But it's hard to take when they say it's raining on you and it's not. | |
