The tie bolts have an updated torque spec as the original was to close to the yield. The new spec is 50 ftlbs + 3 flats + 2 flats. I have repaired two mowers this year with the back tie bolt broken between first and second gearboxes. Both needed new shafts and a through cleaning.
What does that mean 50 ftblbs then 3 flats then 2 flats. Why not 50 plus 5 flats? Not being a smart ass just want to do it right.
I thought it was weird when I asked the parts guy and he came back from the service department and said 50nplus 5 flats. Soni said 50 plus 300 degrees? He said no 5 flats and it takes some special tool???? |
