I'm sure you're familiar with the McCormick Place transformation in Chicago back in March. For those not familiar with McCormick Place, it's a convention center near Lake Michigan. The largest convention center in USA at 2,600,000 sq ft.
City of Chicago records show that $64,800,000.00 was spent transforming it into a 3000 bed hospital. I believe they utilized 6 beds, probably in reality they were test situations.
So, now, it's being dismantled. Army Engineers built it. I assume most of the cost will be St of IL, with federal funds coming also.
Nurses & staff were hired offering up to $180/hr (yes) for 16 hr shift workers. They signed contracts, but I don't believe ever had to work. Huge income & no work.
St of IL bought 800 i-phones for use there. $640,000.00
The entire project is being dismantled. Not the building, but the hospital built inside it.
Just google McCormick Place hospital & spend a day reading & gasping. |
