West Union, Illinois | When I first was diagnosed with gout long before I was diagnosed as diabetic. I've never considered them as being related. Anyway, I told my doctor I really didn't want to go on any unnecessary medication. He told me I could try cutting out beer, wine, organ meats (I said we're OK so far Doc) and a list of other foods. He said I could do it but I would come back.
He was correct.
A couple years later I was walking across the parking lot to get i n my truck when my gout hit again. I turned around, went back in the office, and told them I had to go to the doctor. There are 2 wonderful drugs:
Indomethacin It is the first response for a gout attack. It is not a long term drug but gives immediate WONDERFUL relief
Allopurinol Allopurinol does a wonderful job. What you need to consider is gout goes beyond just the painful attack. The gout crystals in your bloodstream are constantly rubbing, scraping, damaging the blood vessels and organs
I may skip brushing my teeth but I always take my daily allopurinol |
