Yeah, go figure. They say don’t eat fatty fish, yet all the research I’ve seen say fatty fish consumption lowers risk of an attack.

I think it’s part of the don’t eat animals religion.

Purines in meat, bad, purines in vegetables, ok.

Or else it is the rich eating away and getting gout and the peasants blaming it on the meat but it was the alcohol and sugar causing the fat and the gout too.

It’s part of metabolic syndrome so get insulin down. The recommended gout diet makes perfect sense if you think the diet for diabetics should include a lot of sugar and starch.

If starting keto, there often is an initial flare of gout because the knotones in the urine compete with the uric acid. After three weeks ir so the kidneys quit getting rid of the ketones and the gout backs off.

For that reason, I would recommend trying a couple weeks with no sugar or alcohol before going into ketosis, or alternatively a low carb paleo or Mediterranean.

The other thing to do is keep the joints affected warm. The crystals deposit where the body temperature is lower. So often it is the feet. Wear socks to bed.
