Subject: RE: Trapping groundhog

Kingston,Mi
My Grandparents in Ontario Canada had a yellow Collie who herded the dairy cattle because that was his job, but his passion was hunting and killing woodchucks. He would climb up and lay on the cedar rail fence where 2 of the panels intersected and he would observe the pastures. Eventually a ground hog would emerge and start to graze. The dog would melt off of the fence and stalk the groundhog. Everyday by noon there was a bloody, but proud dog siting behind a groundhog carcass on the stoop to the farmhouse kitchen. He was a consciences hunter, only groundhog per day, the rest of the day was dedicated to snoozing in the shade until Granddad needed him to fetch the cattle to milk.
