I've done it all before. And won't do it anymore.
By the time you consider damage to tires, risk to tranny (which is designed for dirt and slippage and lower speeds), risk to you personally moving slowly on state highways, discomfort, etc. You are better off paying to haul it IMO.
I second the notion that the quoted price is too high. Ought to be able to get it hauled for considerably less.
