NW IA | Ohio, The story you shared reminded me of my hospital stay after I had an arm torn most of the way off, my abdomen torn open and the skin on one bicep pealed back.
I thanked the surgeons or stitching everything back together and they said that was the easy part. Infection was my greatest enemy. A Dr. with expertise in infection control was put in charge of my care because they said they removed cow hair, corn silage, and other "stuff" from the open wounds. The accident happened in a silage wagon right after milking when we had chopped corn silage on a hot day.
I never had a fever and that surprised them. They attributed it to the fact that I had been living "dirty". Also had drunk a couple tanker loads of raw milk by that point in life. | |
