I think taxing extraordinary wealth is a good idea. It does democracy no good when a hand full of families have more wealth than the bottom 90% of the country.
How? Said families would easily out vote the few wealthy. Contrary to popular belief you can't simply buy a political seat, one still has to garner more votes than their opponents. There are far more sheep in the lower class you can easily sway to vote your way with a TV ad fomenting hate of the wealthy few via envy.
If wealth consolidation is the issue, when will you give yours up? Just by the luck of living in the US basically all of us are in the top 10% of the worlds wealth. So when will you quit hurting all those other people around the world by hoarding your wealth? |
