When it was time to finish Soybean Harvest my combine was sinking in 3-4 inches. 9600 with 18.4 -38 duals. Assuming it gets dry enough to do so i plan on a couple of tillage passes to smooth the fields. But in case I can’t how big of a mess and what problems will I encounter if I plant directly into it? This is in a silt loam soil that needs to be dry otherwise it will be cloddy. We just got good shot of moisture and unless it really gets warm and windy I don’t see the fields drying out until late March.

Personally I would Wait until it gets dry in late March/ April and then work it. You can run right ahead of the planter if you have to. We do it like this every year
