Western Iowa | It can even matter what the weather is like when you do it. Frozen ground and you will see how good of legs your bulls actually have and the landings will likely hurt. Nice dry spring mellow soil and the landings don't hurt them but the bulls can put a lot of power to the ground and that probably isn't good. Right after a 1/4 rain works perfect. Solid footing but not enough traction.
Also no cycling cows within any working distance. I have had bulls get along just fine...…. right up until work shows up, then all heck breaks loose, even if the cows aren't in the same area. They sure can smell it.
I tried the fence line thing.... Once. The fence was good enough, but for a month those bulls would just stare at each other and bellow at different times of the day. 5 seconds of being in the same yard and it was on. By night the hierarchy had been established and the big fights were over. Should have just let them at it at day 1 instead of waiting a month. | |
