Silk to black layer, generally speaking, for corn planted last week of April to first few days of May will be about 9-11 calendar days shorter this year when compared to 2017 (this is in central Iowa-very similar to many locations throughout corn belt). Prospects for national 178? Maybe, but then again--what if the number is 173?
