Iowa | I'm not a Mac bigot and don't want to start anything,> but comparing computer prices with a broad brush is like saying the biggest problem with Craftsman socket sets is the price when compared to Harbor Freight socket sets. The Mac doesn't compete in the "cheap n cheerful" market (yet) like a lot of the Wintel mfrs do. If you look at Dell's laptop product that somewhat compares to the MacBook Pro, they start at $1399 without adding a single option, no bluetooth, no camera, 1GB SDRAM. So like WYDave said it comes down to how much you want to spend and what you want to do with it. If all you want is cheap n cheerful, don't look at a Mac. | |
