I suppose the could make really good beans, but the stars are going to have to line up. Heat, moisture, longer than usual growing season..... We are now past the longest day of the summer, and canopy seems to be a ways off.
Would a longer than usual growing season have an effect on a photosensitive plant? IMO beans will really struggle to yield any better than "okay" even with ideal weather because they are just growing so slow, as Ben pointed out. Corn in our area looks decent overall, although the stand isn't perfect at all and there's plenty of late-comers that are now basically weeds----It has good potential as we stand but we will need plenty more moisture. We've been on the cusp of really dry but picked up a few small showers. Could take 2" easy any time here.....
