The Foothills of Mount Trashmore ECIL | Accessible capital to pay bills and having money are two very different things. All of the farm bankruptcies in my general vicinity, seem to be larger operations that were financed, not by a local or regional bank, but by large banks that really shouldn't be loaning farms money in the first place. Mid size and smaller farms may not have the accessibility to capital as a larger operation that is using a bank that is out of touch with the reality of farming costs. The guys who have gone bankrupt have borrowed far more $ per acre than their crop insurance could possibly cover and local banks know that, the large banks obviously do not. |
